Kolpa river

The Kolpa River is known as the warmest and cleanest Slovenian river. It is a border river between Slovenia and Croatia and represents 113 km of natural border between the two countries. It originates on the Croatian side in Gorski Kotar and is 292 km long. In the past, many mills and sawmills operated on the Kolpa River, and our homestead also boasts a 300-year-old mill and sawmill from the previous century. Numerous birds such as storks, grey herons, and wild ducks inhabit its area. In addition to more than 30 fish species in the river, otters and the European pond turtle, the only native Slovenian turtle, also live on the riverbank. The Kolpa River offers plenty of opportunities for sports activities such as swimming, rafting, fishing, canoeing, and cycling along the river.
