Accomodation
On the estate, we offer the Miller apartment, once the residence of the millers who worked in the estate’s historic mill, and three glamping cabins: Ana, Jure, and Mare, each named after our family members. Additionally, we also offer a campersite, allowing guests to enjoy the peace and beauty of our estate, in the comfort of their motorhome.
The Kolpa River
The Kolpa is just a few steps away—calm, clean, and pleasantly warm in the summer. It’s ideal for swimming, wading, and lazing around on the riverbank; the water often reaches pleasant temperatures, perfect for long summer days. Along the river, you’ll find spots for privacy, spots for socializing, and places where you can listen to the murmur of the water.
Outdoor Activities
Hiking, biking, stand-up paddleboarding, boating, and fishing. We recommend a morning walk along the river, an afternoon stand-up paddleboarding trip, and bike rides along the trails of Bela Krajina. Every season has its own charm—water activities on the Kolpa River in the summer, biking and hiking in the spring and fall, and a visit to the ski resort or nearby thermal spas in the winter.
Sustainability
We believe that luxury and sustainability go hand in hand—from using locally sourced produce to choosing eco-friendly materials. During your stay, you can enjoy fresh farm eggs and goat’s milk from our estate, sourced just steps from your accommodation.

Immersed in nature
In the morning, you’re awakened by birdsong; during the day, the murmur of the river accompanies you; and in the evening, a vast sky full of stars. The estate is steeped in the history of milling, which gives the place a special atmosphere.

Your four-legged friends are welcome here. There are safe outdoor areas, nearby forest trails, and riverbanks where they can explore and relax.
A PLACE WITH A STORY
Rooted in family, open to all
Fortun Estate is a family homestead by the Kolpa River, steeped in the history of millers and sawyers. The estate is home to a more than 300-year-old mill, restored by Jure Fortun after returning from Canada, where he and his wife Marija had emigrated. The restoration took place in the 1930s.
In 2011, Jure’s granddaughter Bonia began developing the estate’s tourism offering, breathing new life into the estate. She first converted the miller’s room into an apartment; when the mill was still in operation, it had served as the permanent home of the miller, who lived and worked on the estate. Over the years, she developed the property into a boutique tourist farm, welcoming both new and returning guests with genuine hospitality.
One of the estate’s greatest advantages is its immediate proximity to the Kolpa River, a natural gem inviting you to swim, paddleboard and explore by boat. The surrounding area also offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, cycling and fishing.
Fortun Estate is a small, personal retreat where peace and privacy come first. The number of accommodation units is intentionally limited, allowing every guest to truly unwind.
